THE LONGEST ALBUMS

Perhaps artists can be divided into two types: some release fresh releases along with a fresh calendar, others make them wait for their new products for years. 2017 has already managed to please us with new albums from artists such as Ed Sheeran, Imagine dragons, Lana Del Rey and many others – they delight their fans not even annually, but still remain on hearing. And there were such releases, in anticipation of which we really managed to get bored.
In 2005, indie pop band The xx appeared in London. The British delayed with the release of the first album – the release of the debut album with the simple name “xx” took place only four years after the band was founded, but LP brought the team everything the musician could dream of. “Xx” was immediately nominated for the prestigious “Mercury Prize”, which he eventually took, gained platinum status, and The xx gained fame and love from the rapidly expanding army of fans around the world. With the fact that “xx” was produced by the group itself.
The next album, “Coexist”, took a little less time – LP was released in September 2012. The album climbed even higher than the debut album – longplay entered the ten best disks of the year according to the Guardian newspaper and headed the British charts. And after the resounding success, The xx fall silent for almost five years, leaving studio work.
During this time, lead singer Jamie Smith released his own album “In Color”, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category “Best dance / electronic album of 2015”, but at the end of November 2016 the group is activated – a video for the song appeared on YouTube “On hold”.
And finally, after a long wait, The xx delight their fans with a new record. On January 13, 2017, the band released their third studio album titled “I See You”. Work on it began in 2014, and the release reminded the world who the The xx are and what they can do. The world, in turn, reacted extremely positively, and critics have become generous with high marks: the average rating of I See You was 84/100 for Metacritic.
Slowdive – one more British who stormed in their time already the load-scene, but did it not too successfully. The group existed from 1989 to 1995, broke up, and in 2014, unexpectedly announced its reunification.
No one could believe that Slowdive would decide to return to the big stage after so many years. And there is an explanation for this: despite the first mini-album, which was warmly accepted by shouts, the history of the group was not the best. The debut longplay “Just For A Day” from 1991 and the following “Souvlaki” from 1993 did not find positive responses – the constant negative criticism of their work by the media and the unflattering statements of the label representatives seemed to completely destroy the team. After the release of the album “Pygmalion” in 1995, which went away towards the ambient music that was unpopular then, the group broke the contract. But despite everything, Slowdive did find their listeners, and this was the main reason for returning. Albeit after so many years.
In January 2014, the group creates its Twitter, which hints at a possible reunion, and it does not take long to wait. Then he releases the first track in 22 years – “Star Roving”, then the single “Sugar for the Pill”, followed by a full-fledged longplay called “Slowdive”, which was released on May 5th. The album included eight tracks, the critics called the disc Slowdive their best release, which is probably not surprising – the fact that the band after so many years decides to challenge the world and release a new disc – success.
“Casta” took root in Rostov-on-Don in the mid-nineties and over two decades managed to become something with which Russian rap is associated by itself. But with an impressive number of singles and solo albums of the participants of the “Caste”, on account of the group, as such, for a long time there were only two full-length albums. Moreover, the last, “Byl in the eyes”, was released almost ten years ago – in 2008. But “Caste” is back.
On May 15, the classics of Russian rap presented a new record titled “Four-headed Screaming”. It was preceded by a very curious video “Macarena”, released at the end of December 2016 on YouTube – in it Vlady, Shym, Hamil and Serpent tastefully walked through vegans, vapers, Uber, politics and many other topics, passing also a kind of hi Mushrooms.
But on the disc there was a place like a banter, and very serious topics. This album is not very similar to the previous ones – the band members talk about social problems, about relations between various people, about fatherhood, being already adults and family people. They understand perfectly well what they are talking about.
Initially, 26 tracks were recorded, but the final track list included 18. The disc was recorded in Rostov-on-Don.
